Playgrounds and outdoor play equipments provide fun, exercise and fresh air but simultaneously they can pose some safety hazards. Playground is a fun place where kids enjoy playing and also it contributes to good health. There are few playground safety tips for toddlers and school age kids that parents and guardians should know for the safety of their kids while they enjoy their leisure.
It is important that equipments like swings, monkey bars, slides, teeter-totters and sandboxes should be checked against faulty and cracks, loose screws or any other damage that can cause injury while sing them. Secondly check the availability of the playground attendant so that you can report any discovered damage or crack on the playground equipments. Also supervising kids and toddlers is also important.
Since kids and toddlers love to put anything in their mouth, so keep tem away from any foreign material and keep them away form broken glasses or slippery surfaces. Dressing up the children safely is also an important part of playground safety as hoods, purses, necklaces or drawstrings can get caught on equipment resulting in injuries. Also see that kids or toddler play equipment safely. Make sure there is no one behind or in front of them.
